One of my all time favorite mushrooms, Galerina marginata or Funeral Bell mushroom is a deadly toxic mushroom that grows on decaying wood (called saprobic), usually growing in clusters. This mushroom is usually found in the autumn or spring underneath conifers and hardwoods.
This piece was inspired by the autumn forest, the dendritic agate's natural root appearing patterns mimicking mycelium, an orange amber to represent the color of the mushroom, and oak leaves to remind you of where they grow!
